About Ingrid Van De Wiele

Ingrid Van de Wiele took her first steps in the fashion world in the late 80’s. After working for other brands such as Viviné, she launched her first collection under her own name in 1992. Those steps bacome great strides as she opened stores in Antwerp and Tokyo. After 5 years she also launched a second collection called: Neuf sans Neuf, meaning new without being new. An experimental collection showing non-executed ideas for her mainline.

The striking elements in Van de Wiele’s collection are the pure lines, the perfect finish. An iconic elements are nips and tucks on the chest traversing onto the sleeves, as well as interchangeable pieces: ribbons, removable collars and sleeves, allowing for transformation.

This idea of customisation was also present in her own stores where each garment was presented separately on a mannequin, not in a full look, to emphasize its creation. A smart choice as Ingrid prefers unusual materials such as textile wallpaper with the appearance of imitation velvet, aluminium thread combined with nylon for a blouse, paper for a jacket. Noble materials, as Ingrid described it her self, but with a techno finish.
